Sexoholism

When I tried to find out from friends who are sexoholicks, every second man replied that it was him and that I can write about him. Women were more modest and recognized no addictions except the shopping. Both were not that honest.

Legend about polygamous men and some women will live forever, but in our time, the myth began to turn in the scientifically proven disease. Suddenly it becomes serious. After all, the patient needs treatment, not scandals and divorce due to the crazy spree and ten mistresses.

Example is contagious
The whole world is deafened by sex, everyone wants to be rich, famous, and change partners one by one. Just look at Michael Douglas, Tiger Woods, Kevin Costner, Jesse James (husband of Sandra Bullock, who incidentally had escaped from the hospital where he was treated for a piquant dependence), as well as many other nameless victims of sexual obsession.

Sexoholism was rapidly included in the list of the most common diseases of the XXI century. According to the researchers, this addiction has already affected about 5% of the population, which is nearly 360 million people. Now you understand why it is offered (along with gluttony) to include it to the fifth edition of the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders” – an American bible of mental illness.

Jack, 30: “I was a sexoholick. I am 30 years old, I have a child and a wonderful wife, but I still kept looking for sex on the side. First, I met women in bars, discotheques. Then I went to prostitutes: so much easier than to explain for the hundredth time that you don’t want to see her anymore. It was like an obsession. As a result, I went to the Anonymous sexoholicks center. Since then, I stay true to my loved one for almost a year.”

A person affected by this disorder often change sexual partners and does not initiate long-term relationships. He is interested not in emotions, but in sex as a ritual. Just sex. And it is desirable to be diverse, with sadomasochism, long viewing of pornography and violent erotic fantasies during the breaks included. All interests of the patient are centered around the increasing number of sex acts, which do not always need a partner as porn on the Internet will work just fine.

As a nice story about human subjected to this kind of relationship, we can recall the movie “Sexoholick” with Michael Douglas. His hero is constantly apologizing for his sins in front of his daughter, but adds that he can change nothing, despite the fact that his life is falling apart.

Addiction
Scientists say that the reasons of this disorder hide in the mental problems. Victims of the disease are not sure of themselves, and bedding victories give them a reason for pride. Also, the dependence can be the result of abuse in childhood or lack of affection. Children who don’t have friends may later prove their worth to themselves endlessly changing partners. It turns out that this obsession can lead to an inferiority complex.

Sexoholism is recognized as addiction, because it is akin to alcoholism and drug addiction: a victim is looking for the next portion of sex, he gets a momentary pleasure and again seeks for a new dose. In contrast to these dependencies, sexoholism usually does not lead to terrible physical consequences, apart from the consequences of unprotected sex. But he suffers from the moral side of the issue.

Janny, 28: “I love sex, and I want it more and more. I easily get acquainted, go to the guy’s home, sometimes even participate in group orgies, but in the morning I cannot shake off the feeling of shame. During intercourse, I’m on top of the world, but then I want to die because the realization that no one needs me. I did not tell family and friends, but they have already begun to see my addiction.”

Genes
Meanwhile, researchers complicate and theorize. Recently, Israeli scientists have found a gene that is responsible for exciting. Professor Richard Epstein believes that genes play an important role in the development of this disorder. This means that there are people for whom sex is more important than for others. “Honey, I’m innocent, I have an inborn gene mutation!” How’s that excuse?

But what if sexoholism is just a good reason to appear before others as a poor, sick sheep? Like excuse me dear and beloved wife and children, your father is terminally ill and being in the heat of passion, makes love with everyone. I do not know how it happened, but I confess. Perhaps I caught some sort of virus. I’ll go to rehab. Maybe I will find like-minded people there.

Jon, 29:  “It sounds pathetic, but I am ruled by lust. Sex has become the main purpose of my life. I masturbate every free minute, even at work. Download porn in large quantities, order a prostitute, get acquainted with the girls on the web, use the services of phone sex. But the worst thing is that I go on and on. I was already thinking about oral sex with a man, although I am not gay.”

How to distinguish the pretender from sexoholick?

  • Sexoholicks live an extraordinary life

These people no longer control their behavior that has a negative impact on all areas of their life. They think only about sex, behave very relaxed and always set to sexual contact.

A sexoholick does not care with whom to sleep. Victim of sex addiction is not persecuted by the image of a school teacher, or his best friend, so the possibility of a permanent mistress excluded: a man obsessed with a sex and does not feel any romantic feelings.

  • Sexoholick realizes that he is ill

Random sex and a large number of partners are not accepted by society, so sexoholicks keep everything inside, become depressed and accept that they have a problem that must be solved. In such cases, he needs to talk to someone. In the special centers people say that the support of loved ones is very important for patients.

P.S. Having passed the course of treatment in a clinic David Duchovny repented of his behavior and realized that the family is the best thing in his life. Now he claims that sexoholism is nothing else but lechery and debauchery.

Sexologist’s comment
Sexoholism refers to mental pathologies called “addictive behavior disorders.” This condition affects both men and women. The main feature is the inability to control their behavior. The actions that led to early puberty and emphasis on sex may be the reason. Don’t confuse sexoholism with physiological conditions such as hypersexuality and high sexual constitution.

Hypersexuality is associated with increased production of testosterone in the body.

High sexual constitution is a serious need for sexual contact in which sexual interest does not become dominant. Sexoholick has his mind concentrated on sex, and it takes each time more and more to satisfy these interests. Sex is not just a source of pleasure and a means to satisfy neurotic needs. In this state, people can have sex with an unattractive partner for several times a day, and so on. For those who cannot find a real partner, sex is converted into virtual (phone, computer, etc.).

Since sexoholism is a mental pathology, it should be treated by specialists in the field of the psyche.
