Talented and ambitious British engineer Colin Chapman created the Lotus Engineering Co in 1953, which has specialized in the production of sports cars for racing. The company’s first car was the lightweight sports Lotus 6, which appeared in the same year. The next car of the company was the Lotus 7 based on the Lotus 6. The car was very good, so even now an upgraded version is produced by a variety of small companies in many countries. Its nontrivial appearance perfectly combines classic and modern properties. The car was named in honor of the company’s chairman granddaughter Elise. The second-generation model was released in 2002. The roadster has undergone significant changes of the exterior. The 2011 model received an updated design of the body as well, especially the optics, grille and some other details. The Lotus Elise interior was also subjected to change, however, everything inside of the roadster was still laconic and simple. At first glance, the potential of small Lotus Elise. The Lotus elite is the first Lotus model, designed as a road car. Nevertheless, it was suitable for creating sports modifications on its base. The Elite’s body was almost entirely manufactured from fiberglass. Its fiberglass body was mounted on a steel chassis. The older models had a fiberglass body with a frame made of tubes. In 1974, the Lotus company has released the restyled Elite. The Elite or the Lotus Type 75 was produced from 1974 to 1982. This model had independent suspension on all 4 wheels and all-aluminum engine. In total the company has released about 1000 copies of this model.

The Lotus Esprit is a 2-door sports coupe, which was issued by the British car company in the United Kingdom in the period from 1976 to 2004. The debut of this model was held at the Turin Motor Show in 1972, where it was presented as a concept car designed by Italdesign-Giugiaro. This model built on a shortened chassis of the Lotus Europa. It was the first Giorgetto’s project created in the era of the polygonal design, which was also called folded paper. Initially, this sports car was named was the Kiwi, but the Lotus tradition to use the names that start with the letter «E», led to the fact that the car was renamed. In the model line, the Esprit replaced the Lotus Europa. The new version Esprit V8 was presented in 1996, it was equipped with one of the best Lotus engines with twin-turbo.

Similar to the Elan, the Lotus Europa was built on backbone frame. Traditionally the Europa body was made of fiberglass. During assembly of the first cars, the body was glued to the frame, but the company refused this technology in future models. The car finally went on sale in the UK, where it can be bought off the shelf or as an assembly kit. At first, the Europa had quite an attractive price, so it became very popular. Compared to other cars in its class, it was equipped with simpler units but had decent rates. Later, the company felt the emergence of demand for a higher-speed version. Therefore, despite the price increase, Lotus refused to cooperate with Renault and began to establish its own engine with two camshafts, while changing the shape of the rear part of the body. Overall, the Europa is a well-balanced model, which is a joy to drive.

The Lotus Evora was presented at the British Motor Show in London in 2008. Serial production of the model began in 2009. The Evora is an elegant coupe, established on the basis of the most modern technologies. The model has a relatively light body structure, which in combination with the powerful petrol engines provides impeccable dynamics. This model was the first car designed on a completely new platform since 1995 when the Lotus Elise was launched. The Evora’s size was much bigger than the Elise and its derivatives. Another feature of the car was the presence of an optional second-row of seats. Lotus designers managed to create a stylish, elegant and muscular car. The Lotus Evora interior looks pretty decent, thanks to the use of high-quality finishing materials. There is a 7-inch monitor in the center of the dashboard that can display all the needed information.

The Lotus Exige is a sports car produced by the Lotus Cars. The Exige is built on the mid-engine Lotus Elise, produced since 1996. The Exige was launched in serial production in 2000. The company Lotus Cars unveiled the new Exige 265E, which is the most powerful representative of the family of Lotus in the history of British manufacturer. In addition, the engine of the new sports car is adapted to run on bioethanol. The company said that they managed to raise the capacity of the engine by installing two new compressors which deliver the fuel at a higher pressure. In addition, there was an improved fuel injection system and an upgraded engine control unit. In general, the Lotus Exige is a modification of the Lotus Elise Sport, which in its turn is a simple racing version of the Lotus Elise, and differs from it with a more powerful engine. However, the Exige appeared on the market as a unique model that has no variation.

The Lotus Seven is a small, lightweight sports car with an open top, which was first introduced by the British company Lotus Cars at Earls Court Motor Show» in 1957 and was produced it until 1972. Its predecessor was a fairly popular model under the name Lotus 6, the production of which was stopped in 1955. Colin Chapman was the creator of this unique car. Developing this model, the company has stuck to his philosophy of creation, which included light weight and simplicity of design. A small initial cost, high reliability, low operating costs have made this car very popular car. The Seven is a very light car, so it delivers acceptable for a sports car dynamics with any engine. The Lotus Seven is a small car with a unique character.
