Good Habits That Take Just a Minute

Many people think that it takes a lot of time to achieve a good health, but there are a lot of good habits, which takes only one minute or less. To do something good for your health is better than not doing anything at all: for example, jumping the rope for one minute will greatly increase your heart rate, and writing of 5 thanks a day will help you see the world with a smile. We want to tell you more about the good habits that take only one minute per day.

1. Brush the tongue
You used to brush your teeth every day in order to prevent gum disease or tooth decay. Cleaning the tongue is another important thing to do, which is often overlooked.

A lot of bacteria and different microbes that cause a halitosis accumulate on the tongue. Clean the whole surface of your tongue each time you brush your teeth. Repeat this action at least once a day to remove the plaque particles, tiny pieces of food and bacteria. It will make your breath much fresher.

Be careful if you have never cleaned your tongue, as cleaning of its base with a toothbrush can cause a gag reflex. You can buy a special plastic tool in pharmacies.

2. Sneeze into your elbow
A handkerchief will come in handy when you sneeze, but in case you don’t have one it is best to your forearm. Don’t  use your hands for this purpose as they may be dirty.

Sneezing into your elbow won’t give tiny germs get into the atmosphere, because they can touch down on the surface, which can be touched by other people.

This simple trick is not only a good piece of advice, which should be remembered during the flu season, but it is also a good thing to do at any time of the year, which can save you from allergies.

3. Drink lemonade
If you consider bottled water to be tasteless, then let it sparkle with new colors and flavors: put a few slices of lemon, lime or orange into the water. Different berries are also perfectly suitable – raspberries, strawberries or any other berries you like. Also, you can add a sprig of mint, or cucumber slices in your H2O.

These tricks can turn water into something you will drink with pleasure. It can make you drink more fluids, which is good for your health.

Usually people don’t drink enough of water: usually, when you want something sweet or salty, you are actually thirsty. Women must drink 9 glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration. Men need 13 glasses of water a day.

4. Give your eyes a rest
Students and workers spend a lot of hours looking at the monitor. The combination of poor lighting and poor posture can be a reason of frequent headaches. Such symptoms are known as “computer vision syndrome”.

You need to take regular breaks in order to protect your eyes while working with a computer. Optometrists recommend a rule of “20-20-20″: you have to look at something that is 20 inches away for 20 seconds after every 20 minutes spent  in front of a computer.

Brief respite you give to your eyes allows you to reduce fatigue and focus. Get up and have a good stretch. It is a useful habit as well.  Stretching helps to invigorate the body and mind as it improves blood circulation.

5. Use sunscreen year-round
The use of sunscreen throughout the year brings huge benefits: for example, sunscreen protects the skin from different  signs of aging. Also, it can reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Researchers have discovered that people who use sunscreen throughout the year, look younger than men and women of the same age who don’t. So the use of the sunscreen is an affordable way to slow down the aging process.

6. Warm the kitchen sponge in the dishwasher or microwave
A dishwashing sponge appeared to be the dirtiest place in your home: it is often used to clean the table or wipe some dirt of the chair. The sponge creates a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to grow.
You can use the dishwasher to sanitize it and stop the spread of bacteria and microbes.

7. Count to ten when angry
Take  deep breaths while counting to ten in order to calm down. This simple trick can help you deal with the anger.

This technique distracts your mind and gives you the opportunity to get ignore the annoying situation or person. If you are still angry at the count of ten just continue to count until you feel relaxed and able to control your emotions.
